1. Documents are prepared by the user
GetMyStub creates pay stub documents from information that users enter. We do not check that the information is true or that the named employer authorized the document. A GetMyStub document is not an employer-issued payroll record.
Each PDF says so in its footer: "Generated by GetMyStub" with the date, "Data entered by user", and "For personal record-keeping only, not an official payroll document", next to a verification code. The footer names the tool that produced the file. It does not mean the employer issued, approved or verified it.
2. What a GetMyStub verification proves
At getmystub.com/verify, anyone with a valid code can see the record of the order we issued and whether its stored files are intact. They can also upload a PDF to check whether it is the exact file we issued: we compare a fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) of the upload and do not keep the file. A match means only that GetMyStub issued that document and that the file has not been changed since.
3. What it does not prove
A GetMyStub verification does not show:
- that the worker is or was employed by the named employer;
- that the employer exists or authorized the document;
- that the wages were actually paid or the income is true;
- that the taxes or deductions shown were actually withheld;
- that anyone's identity was checked;
- that the document is an official payroll record;
- that the document meets the requirements of a landlord, lender, bank, employer or government agency.
GetMyStub does not verify income or employment, and a verification result must never be presented as proof of either.
4. What a code shows, and for how long
A valid code shows the company name, the worker's name, the pay period and net pay of the most recent stub in the order, the issue date, the tax sources used, the document labels and the integrity status.
Codes expire 90 days after the documents are generated. An invalid or expired code is not, on its own, evidence of fraud or alteration. Share a code only with people you want to see that information.
5. Tax figures are estimates
For employees, GetMyStub estimates federal income tax withholding, Social Security, Medicare and, where supported, state income tax, using published tax tables for the pay date. For independent contractors, it does not calculate or withhold any tax. Only supported states, worker types and pay dates can be ordered.
We cite the official sources behind each calculation so anyone can see how it was made. Those citations do not mean the IRS, the Social Security Administration or a state agency approved the document or checked the information. Estimates can differ from real payroll, from taxes actually withheld, and from final tax owed.
6. No professional advice
GetMyStub does not give tax, legal, accounting, financial, payroll, lending or employment advice. Its documents do not replace records issued by an employer or payroll provider, or advice from a qualified professional.
7. For users and for recipients
Users are responsible for entering true information, having permission to use it, and using documents lawfully. Anyone who receives a document and relies on employment, income, identity or payment should verify those facts independently. A GetMyStub integrity check does not replace that.
